Scholastic Book Fair at DLE

Open NOW through March 4th

DLE will celebrate the power of reading this week at the Scholastic Book Fair. A portion of all the proceeds will go back to our school! 

Book Fair Dates/Times:
Monday, February 28 - Thursday, March 3 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Friday, March 4 from 9 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.
 

Parents will not attend the book fair with their child this year. Students can visit the book fair Monday, February 28th through Friday, March 4 during their outclass times. 

Scholastic offers a digital (i.e. cashless) payment option for students to shop in-school or online. Parents, you can set up an online eWallet account so your child can shop with ZERO cash in hand. Visit the Scholastic homepage to access eWallet or shop online.

Open House Thursday, March 3

Open House is a come-and-go event scheduled for March 3rd. To accommodate our growing community, parents can visit classrooms based on their alpha split:

• Last Names A-M will visit from 5:00-5:30

• Last Names N-Z will visit from 6:00-6:30

Teachers will send home an Open House letter and student work samples with any families that choose not to attend.*Due to campus enrollment, please do your best to follow social distancing protocols when feasible.

Boosterthon Kicks Off This Week

This means that donating and registration are officially open on mybooster.com, AND students can begin earning awesome prizes!

You can support our school in three easy steps:

1. REGISTER your student(s) on mybooster.com today. It takes 30 seconds! 

2. SHARE with five (5) family/friends using the SHARE tools on mybooster.com (Facebook, Text Message or Email). Students can earn rewards just for sharing from mybooster.com.

3. GIVE a donation if you are able.

2022-23 Nominating Committee Forming Soon

The PTO is looking for three volunteers to serve on the PTO board nominating committee this spring.

This committee will convene in April to review the candidates that are running for PTO positions for the 2022-2023 school year. Please contact Lacey Cole at Parliamentarian@dlepto.org if you are interested.

Boosterthon Registration is Open!

Our annual DLE Boosterthon Fundraiser is almost here and REGISTRATION IS OPEN NOW! 

We’re just under two weeks away from kicking off DLE Boosterthon March 3, with our Lion Fun Run happening on Friday, March 11.  

Our goal is to have 80 percent of DLE students registered on MYBOOSTER.COM as we work to raise $50,000 for an outdoor learning area and a new track. Registration is FREE AND EASY! 

We’re excited to see our school come together in this fundraising program that will give us a boost of energy and fun along the way! Check out a quick overview of our fundraising program.

Save the Date: Girls on the Run 5K

Save the Date for the Girls on the Run 5K on April 30, 2022.

Girls on the Run is an after-school program designed to inspire girls of all abilities to recognize and embrace their inner strength. Girls on the Run at DLE is for girls in third grade through fifth grade. 

Boosterthon Funds at Work

With the money raised during our 2021 Spring Boosterthon, the DLE PTO has been collaborating with DLE teachers, admin, and a local artist to create a beautiful plan for our Leonetti Library!

As soon as students are released this May, Jeff Syzmanski will begin transforming our library walls with an amazing mural, filled with magic and whimsical imagination. Here's a sneak peek of what's to come.

Parent Volunteers are needed to help judge the 4th and 5th grade Science Fair on February 22nd. No Science background is needed and parents don't need to have a 4th or 5th grade student!

February 'Sending Love' Campaign

DLE is putting on a “Sending Love” campaign for its school-wide Deeds for Donald.

Students will be making Valentines cards, and drawing pictures for our “extended” Leonetti family that reside in assisted living, memory care, and nursing home facilities. If you have family members that live in a care facility, send your child’s homeroom teachers the family member’s name and address.

Our DLE Staff is 'Soup'er!

The PTO treated the DLE staff to a ‘soup’er staff luncheon on January 27.

Thank you to the volunteers who donated individual soup kits, cookies, and drinks to the luncheon, and to our outstanding Staff Hospitality Team for organizing the event!

DLE Raffle Basket for Fort Bend Education Foundation

Each year, area schools contribute a themed auction basket for the annual Fort Bend Foundation fundraising gala. This year, DLE and the DLE PTO are contributing a "Parent's Night In" themed basket, full of goodies for a cozy date night. Please consider signing up to contribute to this wonderful cause.

Please deliver your items to the DLE front desk by Wednesday, February 2.

Lost and Found

The DLE Lost and Found is overflowing with jackets and shirts and water bottles… If your child is missing something, please stop by the DLE Front Office to take a look!

College and Career Week

COLLEGE AND CAREER WEEK

Monday, January 24th through Friday, January 28th

This week is College and Career week! Students will learn about different colleges on the announcements, enjoy Career Day speakers and participate in spirit days.

PTO Provides Rain Gear for DLE Staff

Thanks to your support of Palooza 2021, the PTO was able to purchase heavy duty rain jackets and umbrellas for the staff to use on rainy days. Thank you for your support!

DLE is holding a virtual Career Day on Tuesday, January 25.

The spring GT referral window is open January 5-31. Please see the FBISD GT Website for additional information.

Students eligible for spring evaluation:

• Students enrolled in Fort Bend ISD on/after October 1, 2021 and prior to January 31, 2022.

• Students who are currently identified and receiving gifted and talented services in FBISD in any content area. (re-evaluation fee required)
