Thank you to all the families for your patience as we navigated arrival and dismissal this first weeks back to school. Below are a few reminders to ensure everyone is in the know!
Morning Arrival Reminders
All students being dropped off in car must go through the car rider line.
The front parking lot is reserved for Pink Tags, Green Tags, and families needing to meet with the Nurse or Front Office. Anyone parking to drop a student off will be asked to re-join the car line.
We ask that parents of younger students help us keep the car line moving by unbuckling your child's car seat prior to pulling up to the drop zone. If possible, please teach your student how to begin unbuckling their car seats.
We ask that students are able to exit on the right, passenger side of the vehicle. This allows our staff to support a safe and quick exit while keeping the car line moving.
We ask for parents to remain in vehicles during drop off. Getting out of the vehicle slows down the line.
Please do not park in the staff parking lot and walk students across. This is reserved for DLE and RTMS staff.
The car rider line closes at 8:00 am daily. From this point, parents must park at the front and walk their student inside the building.
Tardies start promptly at 8:05 am. At this time, parents will be required to check their student in.
Dismissal Reminders
As we learn routines, we will begin dismissing closer to 3:25 pm. Please continue to carry your patience with others.
We ask families of Thornton Walkers to please not park on the neighborhood streets near Legacy Oaks. Please help us model being a good neighbor by following the traffic signs posted.
We ask families of Car Riders to join the car line at U-turn past Thornton Middle School. Anyone observed skipping the line will be asked to rejoin the line at the end or wait for the end of car duty to receive your student at the front office.
Car tags must be visible (hanging from the rear-view mirror, preferred) while in the car line. Please do not take this down until your child has loaded the vehicle. Starting Monday (8/17/26) anyone without a car tag will be sent to the front office to get a tag and wait to receive their student. All students were sent home with a tag this week.
Help us stock our Outclass classrooms! 🧻
Our Outclass teachers are looking for:
• Tissues (most needed)
• Hand sanitizer
• Clorox wipes
• Sandwich- or quart-sized storage bags
A collection box will be available at Meet the Teacher. Thank you for helping our teachers start the school year fully stocked and ready to go! 💚🦁
Morning Car Rider Assistants Needed!
We want our drop off to run smoothly with some extra help from YOU!! If you have an hour to commit before getting your day started, and would like to welcome our students out of their cars, we have a volunteer opportunity for you!
Please arrive no later than 7:25am at the cafeteria doors, to check in and receive your volunteer badge. You may park in the lot between Leonetti and Thornton. You will be assigned a couple colored squares in the car rider line, and help children with exiting their vehicles safely. Duty should be wrapped up by 8:10am.
You must have a completed and approved 2026-27 background check on file with the district.
Lunch is better with your favorite Lion!
Beginning August 31, parents are invited to join their child for lunch on their designated visitor day. Check the schedule to find your child’s lunch time and the day assigned to your family’s last name.
Parents may eat with their child or bring lunch for their child—but food may not be shared with or brought for other students. We look forward to welcoming you to the Leonetti cafeteria!
