We need YOU!

Leonetti PTO FUNdraiser—PRIDE PALOOZA is underway and we need your help. We are rallying our pride to fund field trips for our 755 (and growing) student body, recess equipment, school supplies, subscription services and more. A portion of the money raised from the campaign will go toward building an Outdoor Classroom and Butterfly Garden, a space that will give our Lions an opportunity to connect with nature and learn hands-on about science. Butterfly Tree

As part of Pride Palooza, you can purchase a butterfly through Venmo in honor of a teacher, friend, class or yourself. The money collected from the purchase of the butterflies will go toward Pride Palooza, the PTO’s annual fundraiser. Your butterfly will be added to the Giving Tree outside of Nurse Cartie’s office. There are Butterfly Bundles too - Butterfly Kisses packages or the Classroom Kaleidoscope.

Readers needed

We need volunteers to read for one hour a week with a teacher and 3 to 4 students. Our goal is to have one volunteer for each teacher in Kindergarten, First Grade, and Second Grade. We have 30 percent of our slots filled thanks to those who have signed up, but we need more help. Volunteers are required to attend one district GPS training session, as well as the on-campus training at DLE. The next available GPS session is Oct. 16. register here. Attend DLE training on campus with Literacy Interventionist Cynthia Dremely from 9 a.m.-11 a.m. Oct. 18. Volunteers also must complete a FBISD background check. You can do so here.

Author Visit

Award winning author Angela Cervantes will be coming to DLE October 25. She will autograph books, so purchase copies ahead of time and bring them for her to sign.

Pajama Party

Even though Box Tops for Education is getting all fancy with a digital-receipt-scanning app, NOW is the time to send in all those traditional Box Tops that you’ve collected over the summer!

Pile them into a bag, staple them to a piece of paper, balance them on your head, however you want to do it, send them to school with your student before the end of the month. Be sure the student’s and teacher’s names are attached.

The class that has collected the most “old school” box tops by October 30 will earn a pajama day the first week inNovember. Hurry, search the pantry!

All Pro Dad

LOOKING FOR A FEW GOOD MEN
We are looking for men who would be willing to help with our All Pro Dads Program. All Pro Dads is an opportunity to have a FREE breakfast with your child once a month. The group meets at 7 a.m. on Fridays. We are looking for men who would enjoy helping facilitate meetings, organize breakfast and prepare the pre-planned materials. P.S. While the curriculum is geared more toward dads/father figures and their kids, we always want our programs to be inclusive. Therefore, the All Pro Dad’s Day breakfast is open to moms, as well as other relatives (grandfather, uncle, etc.) who wish to attend with a child (with the parent’s consent, of course).

To attend, you must have completed a background check.

Nov. meeting

PTO meetings are the first Thursday morning of each month. The next meeting is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Nov. 7 in the DLE Extended Day Room. If you have ideas, concerns or questions that you would like to have brought up at the meeting, please email Fran Mays to have it added to our agenda. Each meeting is an hour long and childcare is not provided. If you are unable to find childcare, you may bring your child along if you know they can adjust to the environment. Please exit the meeting if your child becomes disruptive during the the meeting. For more information click here.

A winning photo will be selected each week to be showcased in Paw Prints and a select few of those will be printed in our 2020 DLE Balfour Yearbook. Toy donations

Cub Cash Fridays are happening and we need help stock piling our buckets for our lucky participants. Students earn Cub Cash throughout the week to place into a drawing for their chance to win a prize. We are asking for small toy donations. Anything is welcome. What is not: Food, candy, guns, weapons or items of a deviant nature. A box is now available in the front lobby for donations. Thank you!

Please find your community via one of the links below. Each grade has it's very own page that is managed by a parent, not the PTO. This is a great way to meet classmates, find that missing homework assignment or get involved with age-level community events. They are encouraging and supportive environments. Please note that not all these pages have updated to their new grade name. Pay attention to the year. If it reads 2019-2020, you have a current, on-level grade page. Please review Leonetti's very strict policy (just joking) on celebrating your child's special day. They make it simple and quick for you to prep your child to host their very own mini party in class. Background Checks

Active applications are needed to volunteer, go on field trips or interact with any students / classroom on campus. Although your status will currently read "active,” you will be required to begin a new background check for the 2019-2020 school year. Please do not delay in following through this process. Your status does expire at the end of each school year. All applications reset in July. Please complete this process by August to be ready for the next year. Click here to access the proper form.
